Marquette's downtown has improved in recent years with a few decent shops or galleries and a few average to better than average restaurants. There aren't many empty storefronts. Still, downtown pales…Full review by 80237travel

Don't drink in restaurants. Not even one drink. The Marquette police likes to hang out in restaurant parking lots or nearby areas and pull over random people. I've heard several stories and myself …Full review by 657cjg

I'm not sure what other town she is comparing Marquette to in Northern MI. Marquette, Houghton, Calumet, Sault Ste Marie and a few other towns have beautiful downtown buildings and businesses. I can honestly say, Marquette's downtown is one of my favorites! The shops don't all close by 5pm so there is plenty to do even into the evening. The Co-Op is open until 9pm if you need an amazing snack within walking distance. The Peter White Library always has beautiful art on display in its gallery. If you want some quiet take a walk out to the water. Anytime of year, the ways are crashing and the views are majestic.
