I would go on my own. We went on a weekday, so it was not very crowded, but there were enough people around. The trails are very well marked. There is a visitor center and I am …

I would go on my own. We went on a weekday, so it was not very crowded, but there were enough people around. The trails are very well marked. There is a visitor center and I am sure you could check in with the rangers, just in case. But there was never a time I felt uncomfortable or to isolated. Hope this helps :) Take a camera and have fun!
