Following a bitter defeat in the Western Conference Finals, the Minnesota Timberwolves are on the market for some serious upgrades, and they already have a few names in mind.
Minnesota doesn't own its first-round pick, but it has the No. 17 overall pick in the 2025 NBA Draft via the Karl-Anthony Towns trade. The Wolves received Julius Randle and a top-13 protected first-round pick from the Detroit Pistons after that team reached the playoffs.

Before examining what may happen with the Timberwolves offseason, let’s set a few assumed premises for how the Wolves will operate. The second apron is a financial threshold above the NBA’s luxury tax for exceeding the salary cap at which an additional layer of penalties goes into effect.
Just imagine how dangerous the Wolves would be with a rotation featuring Anthony Edwards, Giannis, Donte DiVincenzo, Rudy Gobert, Rob Dillingham, Mike Conley, Jaylen Clark and Nickeil Alexander-Walker and/or Naz Reid.
So, the Lakers' new duo of LeBron James and Luka Dončić was good enough to carry Los Angeles into the postseason but not very deep. Both will presumably be a part of the roster this coming season—though James has a player option—so adding a center remains the top priority.
