Viktor Gyokeres has yet to report for pre-season training at Sporting, with sources confirming to Sporting News that the striker is holding off on returning to the club's Cristiano Ronaldo Academy amid ongoing interest from Arsenal.

Central to Gyökeres’s frustrations is a belief that he had an agreement with Sporting president Frederico Varandas to sell him for a certain fee, believed to be around €70 million (£60.4 million, $82 million). Varandas has publicly insisted Gyökeres will not be sold for such a price.

Arsenal are reportedly set to end their pursuit of Sporting Lisbon striker Viktor Gyokeres. The 27-year-old enjoyed another barnstorming term in the Primeira Liga last season, netting 39 goals across 33 appearances.
