Luckily, Assassin's Creed Shadows has arrived to finally deliver on that tale. Not only does it finally bring the franchise to the long-awaited setting of Japan, but it also sheds light on exactly what went down for this chapter of the Brotherhood.

It’s almost worth buying a new Mac to enjoy Shadow’s state-of-the-art graphics. But, graphics aside, Shadows can also stand on its own two feet as an action-packed game, offering satisfying and varied combat, and the ability to explore the world of feudal Japan.

So, in summary, Japanese reviewers haven't quite put Assassin's Creed Shadows on the same pedestal as Ghost of Tsushima — Sony's gorgeous open worlder really did seem to hit home over there — but it's still managed to garner a lot of praise.
