Freezing cold air remains locked in place Wednesday morning. Scattered snow showers move across the area by late morning or early afternoon. Snow showers will continue throughout the early evening, and upwards of 1 inch of snow accumulation is possible.

A Cold Weather Advisory is set to take effect across Chicagoland from 9 p.m. Monday until noon Tuesday due to dangerously cold temperatures and wind chills. Lows tonight will plunge to -5 to -10 degrees, with wind chills as cold as -20 to -30, posing a risk of frostbite in as little as 30 minutes.

A Weather Alert continues for brutally cold air mass now through Wednesday morning. A cold weather advisory remains in effect until midnight Tuesday night for the entire Chicago area, with wind chills dropping to -20 to -25.

A cold front currently sits west of Kauai and is advancing towards Hawaii. Showers are expected to increase early morning for Kauai, and eventually to Oahu, Maui County and Hawaii Island. Some showers may be heavy at times.

The Chicago area is seeing warmer temperatures on Wednesday, but residents also had to deal with slick roads as a burst of snow arrived, with more on the way.

Members of the Aviation Security Advisory Committee received a memo Tuesday saying that the department is eliminating the membership of all advisory committees as part of a “commitment to eliminating the misuse of resources and ensuring that DHS activities prioritize our national security.
