Detroit — The temperature in Detroit was about 80 degrees and muggy Friday afternoon, and 4-year-old Samir Grubbs asked his mother, Jasmine Shannon, to take him to the park, his family’s pastor said.

Police say the victims were described as ages 4 and 18. A third victim, a 17-year-old, was taken to the hospital.

Two people were injured in a shooting on the night of the 67th annual Ford Fireworks show in downtown Detroit on Monday, June 23, according to police. In a news conference, Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said the shooting stemmed from an altercation.
