Severe storms are expected to erupt across a wide swath of Texas late Monday — from the Dallas-Fort Worth area to East Texas.

After sunny, pleasant weather in the middle of the week, rain chances are returning to North Texas Thursday afternoon. A warm front is expected to return to the region, according to the National Weather Service’s Fort Worth office,

Friday’s forecast is a bit tricky. Morning clouds will gradually clear, allowing temperatures to climb into the low 90s. By late afternoon, dry air moving east will trigger scattered thunderstorms. Storm development is expected after 4 p.m., especially near the Metroplex. Coverage will be greater to the east and south of Dallas-Fort Worth.

At least nine tornadoes have been confirmed in Texas following the severe storms that swept through the state Sunday.
