Traffic delays are a part and parcel of life in London – and now a new study has revealed the cost of congestion in the world’s most gridlocked cities. Escaping traffic jams in London is almost impossible if you cannot swap a car for public transport or a bike.

London's roads were the most congested in Europe last year, making it four years in a row, analysis suggests. Transport analytics company Inrix said drivers in the capital spent 101 hours sitting in traffic in 2024 - a 2% increase from the previous year.

This won’t come as a surprise to many of you, but for the fourth year in a row, London has been named the most congested city in Europe.
