An earthquake was reported Friday near Paramus, New Jersey. Initial reports from the U.S. Geological Survey indicate a 2.4 magnitude quake hit shortly before 1:30 p.m. Glen Rock Police and the Bergen County Office of Emergency Management confirmed they are looking into reports of an earthquake.

A 2.4-magnitude earthquake was recorded near Paramus, New Jersey on Friday afternoon, according to the USGS. The earthquake was recorded just after 1 p.m. at a depth of about 7.7 kilometers (4.7 miles).

Hundreds of people reported feeling some weak shaking to the USGS with some as far north as Poughkeepsie and even into some parts of Long Island.
