CHICAGO -- Rookie starter Troy Melton led a quartet of Detroit Tigers pitchers to a two-hit shutout Wednesday afternoon in a 1-0 victory over the Chicago White Sox at Rate Field.

Tigers pitcher Troy Melton twirled a one-hit, six-strikeout gem over five innings. Melton set the tone from the start and struck out the first batter he faced — White Sox designated hitter Kyle Teel — on a well-located fastball.
