Bank of America's debit card fee will be rolled out in stages starting with select states in early 2012. The company would not say which states would be affected first.
The Observer reported Sept. 20 that Bank of America was planning to begin issuing debit cards with chips later this year. The bank began issuing credit cards with the chips to consumers in 2012.
