Houston-area residents are preparing for freezing temperatures coming on Thursday as hardware stores keep up with demand.

Kirsten Stokes, owner of Stokes Hardware and Supply Co. in Northside Village, said Tuesday the store had protective and repair items on shelves, and expected a Thursday delivery to boost supply.

Luxury furniture emporium Restoration Hardware is set to build a new, four-story store—complete with a rooftop restaurant—across the street from its current location in Houston's Highland Village.

"And afternoon naps would be nice." The hardware and cookware supply store has occupied its 5,725-square-foot space in the Avalon Shopping Center for nearly 66 years.
