The odds of development for a tropical wave swirling in the Atlantic continue to grow, and the National Hurricane Center (NHC) has now designated the organizing system as Invest 92L.
A broad low-pressure area in the Atlantic Ocean midway between the Windward Islands and the coast of West Africa is likely to become a tropical depression or tropical storm before Sept. 21, the National Hurricane Center said. Meanwhile, a reborn Tropical Storm Mario could help bring rain to Southern California.
The next tropical storm will be Gabrielle, the seventh named storm of the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season. NHC is also watching a tropical wave east and southeast of the Cabo Verde Islands that is producing an area of disorganized showers and thunderstorms.
