Hurricane Humberto has strengthened into a Category 4 hurricane, forecasters warning of dangerous surf and rip currents in parts of the northeastern Caribbean and Bermuda.
While current models show a tropical depression building in the Atlantic ocean do not show the storm making landfall in South Carolina, state officials are still warning residents to be prepared for what the storm could bring.
Gov. Henry McMaster and other state officials are providing an update on tropical storm systems that may impact South Carolina over the next few days. Humberto increased to a category four hurricane with sustained 145 mph winds as of 1 p.

While Hurricane Humberto continues to strengthen out in the Atlantic Ocean, it's not the storm that poses the most danger to U.S. shores.
