Tyrese Maxey leads the Philadelphia 76ers to a rather solid win over the Golden State Warriors to begin a back-to-back set.

The Golden State Warriors began a three-game East Coast road trip in Philadelphia, hoping to turn around a rough stretch against Eastern Conference teams.

For the first time since October, the Sixers have won two games in a row. They got another stellar Tyrese Maxey performance and two incredible late-game plays to avoid a disastrous collapse.

VJ Edgecombe won the game for the Sixers on a putback, and De’Anthony Melton’s last-second layup on the leak-out was blocked at the buzzer by Tyrese Maxey. Steph Curry did not make the trip as he recovered from a quad injury, and Jimmy Butler was ruled out with knee soreness.

Paul George (left knee injury recovery) was ruled out Thursday, the start of a back-to-back with the 76ers traveling to Milwaukee. It’s likely George will be good to play that game, the 76ers staggering their stars.

PHILADELPHIA – Kelly Oubre Jr. is progressing in his recovery from an LCL sprain in his left knee and will be re-evaluated again in one week, the Sixers said before Thursday's game against the Golden State Warriors. Oubre has not played since suffering the injury on Nov. 14, when the Sixers fell on the road against the Detroit Pistons.
