The Witness Review
A compelling and emotional depiction of the aftermath of a widely publicized 1992 murder in London.
The drama, based on the real-life murder of Rachel Nickell, goes back and forth between 1992 and 2002, when the cold case was reopened.
The Witness is Netflix's latest three-part true crime drama miniseries, which revisits the 1992 case of Rachel Nickell, who was assaulted and stabbed to death in front of her two-year-old son, Alex Ha
Netflix has released The Witness, a three-part true crime drama delving into the aftermath of Rachel Nickell's death. Back in 1992, mother Rachel Nickell was brutally stabbed to death on Wimbledon Common in front of her two year old son Alex.
Alongside the scripted drama, André and Alex also contributed to the documentary The Murder of Rachel Nickell, which is being released alongside The Witness this Thursday, 4 June. For André, participating in both productions became an opportunity to tell a fuller version of their story after years of feeling misunderstood.
The story is about a real-life figure named Rachel Nickell, a 23-year-old woman who was attacked and killed on July 15, 1992 by a serial killer. This happened when she was just walking on Wimbledon Common in London with her two-year-old son, Alex Hanscombe.
