CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Powerball jackpot has jumped to $47 million for the Saturday, April 5, 2025, drawing, making it the top lottery prize this weekend. Not far behind is the Mega Millions jackpot, which is $43 million for the Friday, April 4 drawing. Saturday’s Classic Lotto jackpot is $2.8 million.
At $5 per ticket, Mega Millions officials believe jackpots will grow much quicker, leading to the headline grabbing billion-dollar jackpots that bring out even the most casual lottery players. Each time the Mega Millions jackpot is won, the new starting jackpot will be worth $50 million, up from the previous starting prize of $20 million.
Along with slightly increased chances of winning, the previously announced Mega Millions changes include: larger starting jackpots, increased minimum winnings, faster building jackpots, increased winnings all around and a more expensive ticket .
A $349 million Mega Millions ticket sold in Illinois remains unclaimed, with the winner advised to seek professional advice.
The Mega Millions jackpot for Tuesday’s lottery drawing has climbed to an estimated $29 million, with a cash option of $13.5 million. The drawing will be held at 10:59 p.m. and televised on WABC-7 in New York City and Fox 29 in Philadelphia. NJ.com will publish the winning numbers after the drawing.
