MEXICO CITY, Jan 30 (Reuters) - Mexico's President Claudia Sheinbaum said on Friday her country would seek diplomatic solutions and alternatives to help Cuba after the United States threatened tariffs on nations that supply the Caribbean nation with oil.
Mexico has placed tariffs up to 50% on goods from China and other countries following a 76-5 vote in the country’s Senate last month.
Mexico's strong exports saved the economy from a recession in 2025 as GDP rebounded in the final quarter thanks to growth in trade.
It comes after the US president threatened to impose tariffs on Canada if it went through with economic deals struck with China
