A former MLB player has revealed a couple of concerns for this young Miami Marlins star the team acquired from the New York Yankees last year.
The Marlins have promoted their top prospect, left-hander Thomas White, to Double-A Pensacola. He is expected to make his debut later this week against Montgomery at Blue Wahoos Stadium.
The Marlins had little use for De La Cruz, a competent hitter who has been terrible since leaving Miami (.200 in 44 games for Pittsburgh, .191 in 16 games for Atlanta this season). The Braves cut him, and he’s now in the Yankees’ minor-league system.
History could be made Tuesday night at Amerant Bank Arena, so the Miami Marlins will begin the second game of their four-game series against the Philadelphia Phillies at loanDepot park 30 minutes earlier.
The Miami Marlins will likely be selling off some pieces between now and the MLB trade deadline, and they definitely have a handful of players that will genuinely interest other teams. However, the Marlins also have some guys that almost no one will want.
The Houston Astros, after losing Jacob Melton, have a dire need in the outfield. Chas McCormick is hurt, and Yordan Alvarez is also dealing with an injury. The issues in left field have been lingering for the Astros in 2025. Making a change is something the Astros need to do.
The 64-year-old former manager of three division champions said managing at baseball's highest level has "passed me by."
These four teams seem most likely to deal for this talented Miami Marlins pitcher before the MLB trade deadline.
