Barcelona's almighty contract error for former player Nico Gonzalez has come to light after he signed for Manchester City in a €60 million (£49.8 million) switch. City completed a £175 million January spending spree with the deadline day capture of Gonzalez, who has signed a four-and-a-half year contract.

The 23-year-old becomes City's fourth addition of the January transfer window as Pep Guardiola begins to rebuild his squad. Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov and Vitor Reis arrived earlier in the month at a cost of more than £125million.
