German Chancellor Olaf Scholz on Wednesday publicly called out US President-elect Donald Trump over his threat to seize control of Greenland, saying "the inviolability of borders applies to every country.

Greenland is an autonomous island country and territory of Denmark. Both the Danish prime minister and Greenlandic premier have said Greenland is not for sale. However, Trump, citing national security matters, has said he believes taking over Greenland would benefit all people.

Pituffik Space Base, located in the far north of Greenland since the end of the second world war, is home to 200 US military personnel and 450 other forces and contractors from allies, part of Washington’s missile early warning system as well as offering space surveillance and satellite command.
