SB Nation on MSNQuinn Priester’s 10-strikeout gem dominates Dodgers as Brewers win eighth straight gameQuinn Priester is getting stronger with each start. His best start so far may have come on Friday night, when he took the mound against the Dodgers. He struck out 10 against the powerful Dodgers’ lineup, and Caleb Durbin drove in two runs to back him up. The result was a 2-0 shutout of the Dodgers and the Brewers’ eighth straight win.
Brewers pitchers held L.A. to a .163 batting average and four runs in Milwaukee. Then in the series opener Friday in Dodger Stadium, they won 2-0, getting a gem from a low-pay pitcher, Quinn Priester, who had 10 strikeouts and zero walks over his six innings. The Brewers are Priester’s third franchise in four years. His salary: $760,000.
Priester (8-2) allowed three hits and struck out 10 without walking a batter over six shutout innings to earn the win over the Dodgers on Friday.
The only hit the 24-year-old Priester allowed was a harmless, one-out single by Michael Toglia to right field in the fifth inning. Priester (6-2, 3.35 ERA) walked only two. He racked up 20 whiffs on 44 Rockies swings. Priester became the first Brewers pitcher to post double-digit strikeouts in a game this season.
