Seven people pleaded not guilty to charges in the killing of Sam Nordquist, a Black transgender 24-year-old man who was allegedly held captive and tortured in an upstate New York hotel room for more than a month.

New details emerged in the horrific murder of Sam Nordquist, the transgender man held in captivity and tortured for a month in a welfare motel in upstate New York, as his alleged killers were formally charged.

The individuals accused of the torture and murder of Sam Nordquist are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday in Ontario County Court.

Sam Nordquist, a transgender man, was found dead in Feburary. 7 people have been indicted in his death, and new documents show the torture he faced.

The seven people accused of killing and torturing Minnesota man Sam Nordquist in Ontario County are due in court on Tuesday afternoon.

All seven defendants — Arzuaga, Emily Jean Motyka, Jennifer A. Quijano, Kyle R. Sage and Patrick A. Goodwin, Kimberly L. Sochia and Thomas G. Eaves — were charged with first-degree murder for killing Nordquist in an “especially cruel manner with the intent to inflict torture on him before his death,” Wolford said.

Seven people are now charged with first-degree murder in connection with the death of Mr. Nordquist, a transgender man whose killing has drawn national attention.
