Wilson Odobert is one of the most popular players in the Tottenham dressing room, according manager Ange Postecoglou. Odobert scored his first Spurs goals when he netted a brace in Thursday’s crucial second leg Europa League last 16 tie against AZ Alkmaar.

For Tottenham Hotspur the season remains alive. For Ange Postecoglou he fights on. The brutal reality is that it felt like it could – that it would –have been over for the head coach had they not overturned a first-leg deficit to win this Europa League tie and earn a place in the quarter-finals.

After a tentative first half, they clicked into gear after the break, creating enough chances to win the game easily and scoring twice more. Odobert scored his first two goals for Tottenham, producing his best ever display for the club. It was strikingly different from the flat performance in the first leg in the Netherlands last week.
