Some parts of the U.S. could see triple-digit temperatures over the weekend, while severe storms threaten other areas, according to forecasters.

If rain and humidity have cleared out and the sun is shining, it can take about 90 minutes. However, if clouds and humidity linger, it can take much longer, perhaps 3 hours.

"We're going to be right on the edge of the moisture that's collecting in southwest Indiana; we could see a sprinkle in the morning or afternoon," said NWS Indianapolis meteorologist Mike Ryan.

CBS News New York's Vanessa Murdock says the situation is expected to improve on Sunday and even more so on Monday.

The tsunami wave from an anticipated earthquake off the West Coast could reach 100 feet and permanently flood parts of the coast.
