Mel Gibson's new directorial action thriller Flight Risk, has debuted with a Rotten Tomatoes rating lower than his previous effort Hacksaw Ridge.
Mark Wahlberg and Mel Gibson have teamed up for an action movie, but critics and audiences on Rotten Tomatoes are extremely divided about its quality.
Alissa Wilkinson of The New York Times agrees, noting “Where “Flight Risk” fails as a film is not really Gibson’s fault. He knows how to shoot action sequences. The screenplay is instead all over the place, in a way that feels tired and halfhearted.”
Currently, it’s at 25% on Rotten Tomatoes. Audiences gave the film 64% — also not too much. On Cinema Score, the film has a grade of C, on Metacritic — 38 points. “Director Mel Gibson tries to reinterpret the action movies of the ’90s.
