The Florida attorney general will serve as U.S. senator until the next general election in 2026 when the seat returns to the ballot.

Elected as the state’s top law enforcement officer in 2018, Moody campaigned on a pledge to voters that she’d be a prosecutor, not a politician.

TALLAHASSEE — Gov. Ron DeSantis chose Florida Attorney General Ashley Moody to be the state’s next senator, serving out the next two years of Sen. Marco Rubio’s term.
