As Ohio State and Texas clash in the Cotton Bowl, a unique chapter of Ewers’ and the Buckeyes’ past has returned to the spotlight.

Jack Sawyer's 83-yard scoop-and-score touchdown after stripping Quinn Ewers on fourth-and-goal with 2:13 left sealed the Buckeyes' 28-14 win over the Longhorns

The game-sealing play came from Ohio State edge rusher Jack Sawyer, a Columbus native, who in the fourth quarter strip-sacked Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers and ran the ensuing fumble back for a touchdown to extend the Buckeyes’ lead to 28-14.

Ohio State will play Notre Dame on Jan. 20 in Atlanta for the national championship. Ewers had two touchdown passes in the game. Quinshon Jenkins of Ohio State had two running touchdowns. Quarterback Will Howard made a huge run on a fourth down play to set up the touchdown that gave Ohio State the 21-14 lead, setting the stage for Sawyer’s heroics.
