Kilmar Abrego Garcia is scheduled to be arraigned Friday in Tennessee on charges of human smuggling.

Kilmar Abrego Garcia, the Maryland man who was mistakenly deported to El Salvador in March, has pleaded not guilty to the criminal charges against him in a Nashville federal court.

Abrego Garcia’s lawyers have denounced the charges as “fantastical” and argued that the indictment should not end a separate lawsuit over his wrongful deportation in March.
