Jackie Melvin Almon, 64, of LaFayette, Georgia, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016. He was formerly employed by The LaFayette Roper Plant for 37 years.

Every couple of months he and Baylee's mother, Aren Almon Kok, will text one other to check in, or Almon Kok will text Fields' wife. "This time of year I talk to her moreso now," Fields said.

Aren Almon Kok and Chris Fields reunite 17 years after a photographer took the picture of Fields cradling Aren's one year old daughter, Baylee Almon, one of the 168 lives lost that day.

"One day I was a parent," Almon said. "And I woke up the next day and I wasn't." Fields continued on in the fire department, working until retirement two years ago.
