A federal appeals panel has kept on hold a law targeting undocumented immigrants who enter the state, rejecting arguments by Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier.

AG James Uthmeier had sent out a memo saying the judge was legally wrong and that he couldn't prevent police officers and deputies from enforcing the law.

Florida Attorney General James Uthmeier was held in contempt by a federal court Tuesday over guidance he gave to local police saying they could ignore an injunction on the state’s criminal immigration penalties.
