Several area school districts have not yet made definitive plans on closing Wednesday for winter weather - but are monitoring the situation.

School administrators have been weighing chances for cold temperatures, maybe ice or even snow, to disrupt school routines or create dangers.

As a winter storm is expected to impact Northeast Florida and Southeast Georgia beginning Tuesday night, some school districts are beginning to announce closures.

Universities and colleges along the First Coast are starting to close in a domino effect in advance of the Winter storm that is hitting Florida Tuesday into Wednesday. By Tuesday afternoon, the area’s three most prominent universities and colleges had called it quits for some operations starting late Tuesday or Wednesday.

The City of Jacksonville (COJ) has provided an update on it’s winter storm response after a day of wintry precipitation.
