Winter weather advisories and winter storm warnings were issued across parts of the country on Monday amid heavy snow.

With ice coverage higher than usual and less frequent arctic air outbreaks ahead, the heart of the lake-effect snow season looks to be coming to an end.

The north west could see some snow this week, according to the Met Office.

Snow returns to the Sierra with a winter weather advisory for Tahoe and Donner Pass. Tahoe could see up to 18 inches, while Reno mostly sees rain.
