The switch by Coca-Cola from corn syrup to cane sugar is also supported by Health Secretary Robert F Kennedy Jr who has voiced concerns about the use of the corn syrup and the health impacts of that ingredient. Coke products sold in other countries like the UK and Mexico already use cane sugar.

President Trump said on Wednesday that he had spoken to the Coca-Cola Company about using “REAL cane sugar in Coke” in the United States and that the company had agreed to begin adding it.

"I have been speaking to Coca-Cola about using REAL Cane Sugar in Coke in the United States, and they have agreed to do so," Trump wrote in a Truth Social post.
