As fresh rounds of U.S. sanctions begin to affect Venezuela’s economy, the government in Caracas has been trying to reassure citizens that the country remains resilient against Washington’s pressure.

The United States has announced a new tariff on Venezuelan crude oil. Under this rule, any country that buys oil from Venezuela—directly or indirectly—will have to pay a 25% tariff when trading with the US.
