Mayoral candidate Andrew Cuomo, who as governor infamously claimed that the city controlled the MTA when it was politically expedient, is calling for City Hall to take control of the New York City Transit Authority to oversee the city’s subway and buses.
A day after announcing he's officially running for mayor as an independent, a totally different Andrew Cuomo hit the campaign trail.
Cuomo says he wants the state to give New York City the power to set its regulations — something he could have done as governor.
Cuomo had his chance and he ruined the subway system,” Republican mayoral candidate Curtis Sliwa said. “Running transit is not what a mayor does. He wants to be governor.”
Mr. Cuomo, the former governor of New York, has vowed to run a more energetic campaign than he did in the mayoral primary, and aimed to demonstrate that on Tuesday.
