The University of Pennsylvania agreed to apologize to female swimmers who competed alongside Lia Thomas, a transgender former NCAA champion.

After announcing a resolution with the Department of Education on July 1 to settle an investigation into Title IX violations, Penn has begun complying with the federal government’s outlined requirements.

The University of Pennsylvania — the Ivy League institution that famously allowed a biological male to compete on its women’s swim team — has agreed to ban that practice to resolve a Title IX violation lodged against it by the Trump administration.
