National Guard members who were deployed to keep the peace in Los Angeles were sent to participate in immigration raids on marijuana farms 130 miles away in the Coachella Valley, according to court documents filed by the Trump administration on Monday.

The National Guard has at times detained protesters in its deployment to Los Angeles, an official said Wednesday, as demonstrations against Immigration and Customs enforcement raids spread to other major cities.

An appeals court is allowing President Donald Trump to keep control of National Guard troops he deployed to Los Angeles following protests over immigration raids.
