Nine people have died after a Massachusetts assisted living facility caught fire Sunday night. The death toll was revised after an error from the district attorney’s office on Friday. Elderly residents rushed to their windows to scream and beg for help as smoke filled the hallways.

Less than a week after the fatal fire at Gabriel House in Fall River, the family of a resident has retained the legal services of Morgan & Morgan, the law firm announced in a press release.

“Ms. Cropper remains in critical condition at this time,” Quinn’s office said in a short statement Friday morning.
