The seal release was made possible thanks to Mystic Aquarium’s “Four Out the Door” campaign. The top fundraiser, Scott Duques, had the honor of releasing Tortellini by opening her kennel gate.

MYSTIC, CT (WFSB) - The Mystic Aquarium said it admitted eight seals in the last few weeks. According to Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue program, six of the eight seals were found entangled.

Mystic Aquarium said the seal was being treated for pneumonia and gastrointestinal issues last week. The baby seal was transferred to an animal rescue clinic after his condition deteriorated.

So far this year, the Mystic Aquarium’s Animal Rescue Program has rescued and rehabilitated 24 seals, a number the institution said is likely to rise and surpass the total number seen last year, 25.
