An American basketball player for the Indonesian league was arrested for allegedly attempting to smuggle illegal drugs to the country, police said Thursday.

Jarred Dwayne Shaw, who played college basketball for both Oklahoma State and Utah, faces up to life or the death penalty.

During a search of his apartment, police allegedly discovered more than 100 pieces of Delta-9 THC cannabis candies.
