The deal seems like a win-win for Strava and Runna. Strava gets to shore up one of its biggest weaknesses — the lack of running training plans. For Runna, it gets access to one of the largest online running communities and Strava’s coffers.

Do Runna subscribers need to run for the hills now the popular app is in the process of being squired by Strava? Not quite.

While Strava supports a wide range of workouts, including cycling, swimming and hiking, it sees running as a key growth area. According to the brand, nearly 1 billion runs were recorded on Strava in 2024, which has “created a sharp increase in race participation, with 43% of Strava users wanting to conquer a big race or event in 2025.”
