The arrest of New York City Comptroller Brad Lander​ was denounced by many public officials, including many of the people who are his opponents in the Democratic mayoral primary.

New York City comptroller and Democratic mayoral candidate Brad Lander was arrested, handcuffed and led away by masked agents at immigration court on Tuesday in a shocking display of force in President Donald Trump ’s America. “You don’t have the authority to arrest U.S. citizens,” video shows Lander saying to the people detaining him.

The city's comptroller, a candidate for mayor, was standing up for a New Yorker after a court date and demanded to see a warrant when he was arrested.
