Jones has a lot of respect for Colts head coach Shane Steichen, who squared off against Jones’ Giants teams for two straight years in the NFC East as Philadelphia's offensive coordinator. He has a close relationship with Indianapolis passing game coordinator Alex Tanney, who was still playing for New York when Jones entered the league.

There's reason to question the Colts’ public skepticism in Richardson. But there’s also reason to believe that Indianapolis’ approach didn’t catch him by the same surprise it caught much of the league.
