The Atlanta Braves recently claimed outfielder Jake Fraley off waivers after the 30-year-old was designated for assignment by the Cincinnati Reds.
The Reds are sitting at 66-60 on the season, just a game back from the New York Mets, who hold the final wild card spot. The Braves, meanwhile, are 56-69 and are 10.5 games back, virtually out of postseason contention.
The Atlanta Braves add more outfield depth ahead of Tuesday's game with the White Sox. They announced they claimed outfielder Jake Fraley off waivers from the Cincinnati Reds. No corresponding move was included with the roster move.
Riley, 28, underwent core injury surgery on Thursday in Philadelphia and is expected to return by spring training, the Braves announced. The third baseman’s procedure is intended to fix a sports hernia and requires a few months of recovery and rehab.

Cal Quantrill was claimed off waivers on Thursday and will get the ball on Saturday to make his Atlanta debut when the Braves host the New York Mets in the second game of their three-game series.
