According to the Coeur d’Alene Fire Department, Dave Tysdal remains in the ICU, but his condition has improved from critical to stable. Doctors performed a third surgery Wednesday after he suffered severe chest trauma.

The Coeur d’Alene Fire Department provided an update on one of the firefighters critically injured during a shooting that left two other firefighters dead.

The suspect was found dead with a firearm nearby late Sunday, authorities said.
