George Russell says a bump caused his car to have a reliability issue in qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix that has left his weekend “up in smoke.”
Lewis Hamilton and Lance Stroll have both been slapped with three-place grid penalties for impeding during Monaco Grand Prix qualifying. The verdicts mean that Stroll will start from the very back of the grid and Hamilton will line up in P7 at a notoriously difficult track to overtake on.

F1 and its governing body, the FIA, hope a rule change for Sunday’s race will change that. Drivers will be forced to change tires at least twice in the hope that more pit stop strategy could shake up an event where Saturday qualifying — and the resulting grid position — is often more important than race day.
