Google finally took the wraps off the Pixel 9a last week. The phone looks like a strong bargain, offering a lot of what makes the Pixel 9 a good phone — the Tensor G4 chipset, a 120Hz OLED display, and a fun, colorful design — for all of $500.

The Pixel 9a also comes with a few more of the traditional A-series compromises. The design is less durable, particularly with the older Gorilla Glass 3 display, and the ultrawide camera is limited to 13MP instead of 48MP. Wired and wireless charging speeds are noticeably slower than the Pixel 9.

The Pixel 9a costs $300 less compared to the Pixel 9 and still carries some of the same flagship specs. But because of its limited RAM, it can't perform some of the flagship level AI operations that the Pixel 9 can.
