Jan. 24, Recology workers represented by Teamsters Local 137 met at the Wharfinger Building to vote on a newly proposed contract. Workers voted 48 to 21 to accept the contract proposal — which promised continued pension growth and wage increases for many workers.

Employees claim the company isn’t presenting them with a fair contract offer that reflects the record-breaking profits it’s seeing.

Thousand of Costco Teamsters across the U.S. are preparing to strike by the end of the month if the company does not present a "fair contract offer," the union says.

Teamsters said its members voted in favor of a strike as they entered a final round of talks to reach a new contract ahead of a Jan. 31 deadline.

More than 18,000 Costco workers will be walking picket lines in less than two weeks if a labor dispute over wages and benefits is not resolved, according to the Teamsters union. Members voted by an 85% margin to authorize a strike when their current contract expires on Jan. 31, the union announced on Sunday.

While Costco is known for paying its employees higher wages than its competitors, the union is accusing the company of not sharing its recent success with workers.
